Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
What is Annual Enrollment, and why is it important?
Annual Enrollment is your once-a-year opportunity to review, update, or select your benefit options for the coming year. It’s also a great time to ensure you’re getting the most out of your benefits and have the right coverage for you and your family.
What types of benefits can I choose or update during Annual Enrollment?
You can elect or adjust your participation in medical, dental, and vision benefits, the MetLife Legal Plan, and Life Insurance and Disability benefits.
This is also the time to enroll in and choose contribution amounts for your Flexible Spending Accounts as they do not carry over from year to year.
Review your enrollment checklist.
Who can I cover under my benefits?
Eligible dependents include spouses and your children. Each benefit may have specific eligibility requirements.
How do I compare my benefit options to make the best choice?
- Review your Medical Plan options.
- Consider the needs of those you cover and how much you’ve spent in the past on medical, dental, vision, and dependent care expenses.
- Connect with a Health Coach for 1:1 support.
How do I enroll?
During the enrollment window (Monday, October 20 – Friday, October 31), visit HR Central and click Enroll Now.
What happens if I don’t take any action during Annual Enrollment?
You will remain enrolled in your current medical, dental, vision, and legal plan option; however, any prior FSA election amounts will not carry over from 2025 to 2026.
Can I make changes to my health benefits outside of Annual Enrollment?
Only if you experience a qualifying life event – like marriage, divorce, birth/adoption of a child, or loss of coverage from another source. You must make any changes within 63 days of the qualifying event. You can change your life insurance at any time, proof of good health may be required.
What happens if I have a dependent on my coverage who is turning 26 in 2026?
You should enroll in benefits for 2026 through the typical process (including electing coverage for your dependent). At the beginning of the month in which your dependent turns 26, HR Central will send you notification that their coverage will be ending. The coverage will expire at the end of the month that they turn 26.
Once their coverage ends, your dependent will have the option to enroll in coverage through COBRA.
