Staying Healthy: Your Physical Well-being

Biogen is proud be an industry leader in health care benefits. You have a choice of three comprehensive medical plans: the Health Savings Account (HSA) Plan, the Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) 90 Plan, and the Exclusive Provider Organization (EPO) Plan. Each plan option covers the same range of medical services, including doctor visits, inpatient and outpatient care, emergency room treatment, mental health services and prescription drug coverage through Express Scripts.

Modest increases to 2022 medical contribution rates

Managing health care costs continues to be a shared responsibility between Biogen and you. You will see a modest increase in medical contribution rates to align with health care trend. Employee contributions for all other coverage such as dental, vision, life and disability will remain the same.

New ID cards in 2022

  • Keep an eye out for new ID cards from BCBS effective January 1, 2022. You can still utilize your current ID card in 2022 as the majority of the information will stay the same. New ID cards will include enhanced resources such as a new website and a dedicated Biogen phone line. Go to Mobile Wallet Card for the most up-to-date contact information.
  • If you enroll in a Flexible Spending Account for 2022, you will receive a new debit card from Health Equity for your eligible expenses in 2022.

Additional Physical Well-being Resources

Health care coverage is just one way that Biogen supports your physical well-being. We provide a number of other programs — from digital platforms that inspire healthy habits to resources to help you advocate for yourself when making health care decisions:

  • Get coaching and app-based support for anxiety, depression, insomnia, social anxiety, substance use and more through Learn to Live. Your covered dependents age 13 and older are eligible, too.
  • Receive app-based physical and behavioral therapy to help manage chronic back or joint pain, through Hinge Health.
  • Access medical care any time with Telemedicine. We're applying standard in-person cost share to Telemedicine visits.
  • Achieve your health goals by taking advantage of our Personal Health Assessment & Coaching.
  • Get reimbursed for fitness expenses including stationary bikes, weights, exercise bands, treadmills, and fitness machines. Reimbursement is also provided for weight loss programs.
  • Get medical advice from experienced nurses, doctors and administrative experts to help you and your family members make smart decisions about your health care with Health Advocate. Call with questions about claims and billing, locating physicians or hospitals, booking appointments, researching Medicare eligibility for yourself or a family member, and more.
  • Create healthy habits with Omada, a digital lifestyle change program and make changes toward healthier eating, activity, and stress management. Participation is limited; interested employees and family members must apply.
  • On-site and virtual nutrition counseling through Optum can help you achieve your well-being goals at work and from home.
  • Help give your baby a great start! You or your pregnant spouse/domestic partner can participate in a special maternity health assessment available through BCBSMA and earn a $50 gift card.

Dental and Vision Coverage

Dental

Biogen offers you two dental plan options through Delta Dental — Dental Plus and Dental Standard. Both plans offer the same network of dentists, and preventive and diagnostic services are covered at 100%. Need orthodontia services? The Dental Plus plan may be right for you. Vision

Vision coverage is provided through Vision Service Plan (VSP) and includes a range of services such as regular eye exams, glasses and contacts, and even laser vision correction. Learn more by searching “Vision” on BiogenCONNECT.

Wellness Incentive

Earn up to $300 for completing the following activities that you may commit to:

  1. Complete Personal Health Assessment (PHA) Questionnaire - This annual Blue Cross Blue Shield questionnaire must have been completed online by December 31, 2021 or within two months of hire date for new employees ($100 wellness credit). Complete the PHA on ahealthyme.com.
  2. Provide Biometric Data - When completing the PHA, provide data such as blood pressure, cholesterol, and glucose which can be obtained from your doctor ($100 wellness credit)**.
  3. Take Action on PHA Results - Focus on areas in need of improvement by participating in one activity to improve your well-being. Consider scheduling free appointments with the Optum nutritionist or participating in a BCBS Wellness Workshop. We also have new fitness and other challenges planned for 2022 which will qualify! You must meet one of the following deadlines in order to receive your $300 credit for 2022:

  • December 31, 2021: If you are currently enrolled in medical coverage through Biogen, activities 1 and 2 must be completed by this date*.
  • January 31, 2022: If you are enrolling in medical coverage through Biogen for the first time, activities 1 and 2 must be completed by this date*.

*Note that if you wish to provide biometric data for item #2 but are unable to obtain updated data, you may use the most recent data that was provided in your PHA from last year (if applicable), or your most recent biometric data from your doctor. If you do not have recent biometric data, you may still commit to this activity and simply provide the biometric data once you are reasonably able to do so.
