What’s Changing in 2022

We've made a few changes to our benefits for 2022 to support your total well-being.

What’s Changing in 2022

  • We strive to provide inclusive benefits. Since we know families are created in different ways, we’re introducing Pathways to Parenthood. This includes improved adoption assistance benefits, a new surrogacy benefit, and new doula support. We’ve also expanded bereavement leave to include miscarriage.
  • To learn more about your benefits programs for 2022, join us at the Virtual Benefits Fair on October 19 from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. ET. You’ll hear from benefits providers, get answers to your questions, explore educational resources, and win prizes. Can't make it live? Access the Virtual Benefits Fair on-demand during Annual Enrollment.
  • Biogen and you will share in modest increases in medical contribution rates to align with health care trend. Your contributions for all other coverage, such as dental, vision, life and disability, will stay the same.
  • Because of the increasing cost of health care, you will share a portion of the cost for telemedicine visits in 2022.
  • To give you greater and easier access to mental health support, we’re adding onsite one-on-one counseling at RTP.
  • We want you healthy and feeling good! That’s why we’re expanding our Fitness Reimbursement Program to include home strength and training fitness equipment, like weights.
  • Keep an eye out for new ID cards from BCBS effective January 1, 2022. You can still utilize your current ID card in 2022 as the majority of the information will stay the same. New ID cards will include enhanced resources such as a new website and a dedicated Biogen phone line. Go to Mobile Wallet Card for the most up-to-date contact information.
  • Effective January 1, 2022, Health Equity will migrate to a new platform for FSA administration with enhanced features. Please note, the existing Health Equity platform will still be accessible to manage any 2021 claims. The new platform will launch in January for claims incurred in 2022, so if you haven’t spent down your 2021 FSA balance by December 31, 2021, you will need to access two administration sites for a small period of time. New debit cards will be administered for January 1, 2022.
  • ALEX can now support decisions about health, welfare and retirement plans in addition to medical plans, and features a chatbot!
  • We’re moving both The Massachusetts Paid Family and Medical Leave (MAPFML) under the Harford administration to ease employee management of leave time.
